I admit it: I'm a total geek. I love electronics, programming, 3D printing, 3D art, and vintage Apple hardware. I'm always juggling half a dozen projects. I also enjoy documenting it all: my successes, my failures, my experiences... and everything geeky along the way.

3D-Printed Blade Runner 2049 Wooden Horse

It's been a crappy week and I've been sick with a sore throat, fever, and a cold. This is the first day in over a week that I've felt somewhat normal and had the energy to do anything. I figured since it was a Saturday morning, I'd bang out a quick 1-day project just to get myself moving.

Ever since I saw Blade Runner 2049, I've been wanting to 3D-print that little wooden horse. I was going to try my hand at making one in SketchUp, and then moving it into Meshmixer for a little sculpting, but it turns out someone did all the hard work for me.

I found this little model on Thingiverse and decided to just print it as is.

I printed it out of woodfill PLA with 100% infill.

I then gave it a little sanding. The ears didn't print that well, so I decided to just sand them down. They could be a little bigger, but I think you can still tell it's meant to be a horse.

I then took it outside and brushed on some wood stain. I then buffed off the excess when it dried.

I then took my Dremel and engraved the 6 10 21 date on the bottom.

Not bad. It's very rare that a 1-day project actually gets done in 1 day.
